Governor creates a project group for the museum of science and technology

The governor of Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin conducted a meeting in Moscow with the designer of the finalist - project of the museum of science and technology “Arc of Science”, the head of the St. Petersburg architectural bureau Studio 44, Nikita Yavein.

Sergey Zvachkin and Nikita Yavein discussed the stages of realization of the project of the future museum of science and technology in Tomsk. The result of the meeting is the governor’s decision on creating the project group, which includes the specialists of Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building and St. Petersburg architectural bureau Studio 44. The governor instructed the project team to present him with a museum project for approval by the end of September.

“Following the results of the presentation of the works of the architect winners to the professional jury we held a wide public discussion in order to choose the concept of the future museums, including expert council participation. The residents of Tomsk also expressed an opinion in the online voting. The majority of the votes both in the professional and public voting went to “Arc of Science”. This conception will be the foundation of the project of the Tomsk Museum of Science and Technology. We shall see the project completed by the end of September,” noted Gov. Zvachkin.

The vice governor of Tomsk Region for construction and infrastructure Igor Shaturniy also participated in the meeting in Moscow.

The international competition for determining the architecture and urban planning concept of the museum by request of the Tomsk administration was announced by the Union of Architects of Russia and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building in July 2014. 63 projects including 18 projects prepared by foreign companies took part in the competition.
