The number of state-funded places at Tomsk universities in the 2015/2016 academic year will increase compared to the outgoing year by 4% – to 9,400, according to the Tomsk Region Administration.
Last week was the start of the recruitment campaign by Tomsk universities.
“In the 2014/2015 academic year, higher education institutions accepted 9029 applicants for state-funded places. Thisyearthefigurewillbe 9395 students. The number of state-funded places on master’s programs has increased to 3147 (last year it was 2559), but most state-funded places will go to bachelor’s degree students – 4978 (last year it was 5242). For specialist’s degrees the figure will be 1270 (last year it was 1228),” a spokeswoman reported, clarifying that the figures are for state-funded places at Tomsk universities and do not include places at their branches in other regions.
According to Tomsk Region Administration data, most state-funded places traditionally go to Tomsk’s two leading universities: Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Tomsk State University (TSU) – 2601 and 2561 respectively. Next follows Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) – 1323, Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB) – 1178, and Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TSPU) – 1130.
Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) of the Russian Ministry of Healthcare will offer 602 state-funded places.
